Our Story

Founder Susan Piper

The idea for Sew Something Simple came when I was looking to combine my love of sewing and vintage haberdashery.

I learnt to sew at a young age on an old hand-operated Singer which we had at home. My mum was a keen sewer and after teaching me the basics, I was off making clothes for my dolls and as a teenager clothes for myself- some with more success than others!

My skills were perfected when I went to fashion college and I was lucky enough to enjoy many years working in the fashion industry. When my career took a turn in another direction, I found I had little time to make clothes but often would run up cushions and home accessories from fabrics, trims and vintage finds.

Based in the Cotswolds, Sew Something Simple brings you useful and beautiful sewing accessories and haberdashery. Things which are a joy to sew with and exquisite sewing inspired gifts to adorn your home.
